My Latest Adventure... A MARATHON???

Yup, that's right! I've taken leave of my senses and signed up to walk a marathon. As in a 26.2 MILE marathon for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training.

Between now and the weekend of January 10, 2010, I will be training to walk a full marathon in my favorite place on earth, Walt Disney World. I'll also be working to raise $3,700.00 to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am walking in memory of my late friend Cliff Gorman, who died from leukemia in 2002.

Please visit my Team in Training Page at

http://pages.teamintraining.org/nyc/wdw10/cmartzinek

for updates, info and to make a donation in support of my efforts.

Anything you can do to help me get the word out, and raise needed funds in this challenge will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Please Help Me Support AIDS Walk New York

I have registered for AIDS Walk New York on Sunday, May 17th, and am very excited about the event! I have set an ambitious fundraising goal and, if possible, I would like your help in order to reach it!

AIDS Walk New York, the world's largest AIDS fundraising event, benefits Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC) and over 30 other tri-state area AIDS service organizations. GMHC is the nation's oldest and most comprehensive AIDS service organization, serving approximately 15,000 people living with HIV and AIDS and their families each year, and countless more through its prevention and advocacy work locally and nationally.

Even though there has been success with drug treatments that are prolonging some people's lives, they don't work for everyone. These treatments can also take their toll physically, and for many cause awful side-effects. I am also concerned that so many young people in New York City are getting infected. There is a dire need for comprehensive prevention programs and services that target youth in their language. And above all, there is still no cure in sight.

I would really appreciate your help. Please sponsor me for AIDS Walk New York. Just click on the link below to visit my personal fundraising Web page. It's fast, easy, and safe to make a donation online with a credit card, debit card, or paypal!

After making your donation, you may be able to double your donation with a matching gift from your company! Please consult your human resources department, or use the matching gift search engine on the AIDS Walk New York website, to find out if your company has a matching gift program!

Thank you for supporting AIDS Walk New York and for helping to put an end to this epidemic.

Soul Retreat - at Omega NYC with James Van Praagh

James Van Praagh will be leading a weekend Soul Retreat during the Omega NYC conference next weekend.

The details are as follows:

Start date/time: Friday, April 3, 2009 at 8pm ET
End date/time: Sunday, April 5, 2009 at noon ET

Location: The Sheraton New York Hotel, 811 7th Avenue (at West 53rd Street)

For registration info: (800) 944-1001 or
e-mail registration@eomega.org

From the workshop description:
From a very young age, James Van Praagh was aware of a dimension that most of us cannot see, and he has dedicated his life to explaining it to the rest of us. In this exclusive workshop, he takes us on a journey into the various aspects of our soul, offering us a unique opportunity to embrace our own powers of healing and insight.

With Van Praagh’s expert guidance, we learn to question our perception of our intuitive abilities and see how dismissal and apprehension can be turned into knowledge and inspiration. Through simple processes of meditation, individual and group exercises, discussion, movement, visualization techniques, and journaling for our soul, we learn how we can live more fully through understanding not only our own soul, but the world of spirits.

Specifically, we:

* Explore and remember our more insightful, abundant, and joyful self
* Discover how to use “intuition,” the language of the soul
* Discern soul patterns from former lifetimes
* Uncover the lessons in our soul’s blueprint
* Release old patterns of negative behavior and integrate the emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental selves
* Receive messages from teachers and family members in the spirit world and learn how to access them whenever we need guidance

As we become attuned to the spirit world and utilize the qualities of our “higher-self,” we are able to bring forth our soul’s innate gifts.

For more information and registration, visit:

I've taken other weekend workshops with James Van Praagh and they are truly incredible and life-changing experiences! If you're in the new York area, you should defnitely check it out!

If you're not able to attend this workshop, you can find a schedule of James Van Praagh's upcoming workshops and other events on his website at http://www.vanpraagh.com. The chat room has recently re-opened, and you will meet some truly wonderful folks there!

More on the Scott Shields Case - Lawsuit Filed

Civil suit filed 9/11 rescue fraud case

Friday, February 06, 2009
BY LISA CORYELL

Special to the Times

Scott Shields, the West Windsor man imprisoned for bilking
the federal government out of funding meant for victims of
the 9/11 terrorist attacks, now faces civil fines and
penalties for his crime.

In a suit filed in the U.S. District Court's
Southern District of New York, U.S. attorneys are seeking
undisclosed damages from Shields, whose dramatic stories of
rescuing victims in New York following the World Trade
Center attacks and in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina
have largely been debunked.
