This is just SO WRONG!!!

You have to see it to believe it, but this is what showed up on Amazon.com when I logged in:
MANGROOMER Do-It-Yourself Electric Back Hair Shaver The product description has to be one of the FUNNIEST things I've read in a while. Here's a snippet:

"How the Mangroomer Can Improve Your Life

Look and Feel Clean and Manicured -- Eliminating unsightly back hair presents a more refined, clean image to others.

Confidence -- Increase your confidence knowing that you are 'back hair free' and no one will be staring or snickering at you, or get turned off by unsightly back hair.

Romance -- Start up that spark in your relationship or marriage by surprising your partner with a smooth, sexy back.

Muscle Definition -- Shaving the hair off your back shows your muscle definition in much greater detail. You'll simply look in better shape after using the Mangroomer.

Sweat -- Keep your back shaved clean and help keep your back dry with less sweat and less chance for body odor.

First Impressions -- As the saying goes, you only get one chance to make a first impression. Don't let back hair ruin the image you are trying to project.

Summer Essentials -- When your shirt is off this summer, no back hair is a big plus. Whether you're at the beach or a pool party, use the Mangroomer to avoid embarrassing, hairy-back jokes.

Avoid Embarrassing Public Treatment Options -- With the Mangroomer you can shave your back privately, easily, quickly, painlessly, and inexpensively by yourself, in the comfort of your own home.

Product Description
MANGROOMER is 'the essential do-it-yourself electric back hair shaver' for men. The unique patent pending design enables a man to remove unwanted back hair by himself in the privacy of his own home or while traveling. How to prank a Telemarketer

This is a recording of a prank pulled on a telemarketer. It has to be one of the funniest things I've heard.

Free Directory Assistance

1-800-FREE411

I found this while surfing this morning, and it really is free. Here's some info from their website:

"1-800-FREE411 is free nationwide directory assistance. And it’s free from any phone. Cell. Home. Work. Wherever. Of course, you may get charged minutes on your cell phone (like most calls), but we won’t charge you a penny.

Here’s how we do it. Our sponsors cover the service cost by playing short advertising messages (about 15 seconds) – ads usually based on your search request. Say you’re looking for a local pizza place. We might play you a special offer from Dominos. And we’ll even connect you for free. Of course, you can always just get the original number you requested. Best part is, a typical call to us lasts about the same amount of time as a paid 411 call."

You don't need to sign up for anything, either. All you do is dial 1-800-FREE411 (1-800-373-3411) from any phone instead of your normal directory assistance number.

Ice, Ice, Baby!

Okay, I'll admit it - I just downloaded Vanilla Ice's "Ice, Ice, Baby" to my iPod. I'm not entirely sure why, to be honest. But for the life of me, whenever I listen to it, I can't get this image of Jim Carrey out of my head:

Desperate Housewives: The North Pole Edition

Looks like the North Pole isn't the only pole these reindeer wives are familiar with! All they're missing are clear platform heels. I wonder what kind of reindeer games they play while Santa and the boys are out delivering toys... Posted by Picasa

Highlights of My Weekend with James Van Praagh

This is the very, very “Readers Digest Condensed Version” of my experiences at my recent Level 2 Mediumship Training with James Van Praagh.

It’s condensed because if I try to write down everything that happened, I’d be sitting at my computer all day long!

So, the highlights are:

- My guides gave me a REALLY special gift, and gave me a taste of what it feels like to be them, physically and mentally/spiritually. I have NEVER felt anything like it before, and it was beautiful beyond words! Any way that I try to describe it just isn’t going to do it justice!

- We had some pretty amazing things come through during our group exercises, especially the partner exercise I did in psychometry, and the results for both me and the woman I partnered with!

- I met a woman who records EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomenon), and on Saturday night, we met in their room and had actual recorded conversations with spirits. Had I not heard it with my own ears, and received a very clear and specific answer to one of my “validation” questions on playback, I might not have believed it. But they were THERE and TALKING to us!

- Last, but by no means least, we did “audience demonstrations”. I GOT UP IN FRONT OF THE ROOM WITH JAMES and did a reading IN FRONT OF EVERYONE!!! The stuff that came through for this woman was amazingly accurate, and I am SO thankful that her grandmother chose me to come through!

I left the weekend with a LOT more confidence in my own abilities and owe James and everyone in the group a HUGE thank you!

2,996 Tribute - Thomas Daniel Burke

Newsday.com - Victims Search: "Intelligent and charismatic, Burke was a good-looking man with a talent for number-crunching. He started out on Wall Street as a trainee with no job guarantee and ended up as a managing director and partner at Cantor Fitzgerald, rising to the top of his profession through a combination of charm, persistence, luck and hard work, his family said. 'He had the kind of personality that would connect with people and make them loyal to him,' said Salter."

"His career was important to him, but so was his family. A natural athlete, he loved coaching his sons at sports. When his oldest, John, became enamored with chess, Burke learned how to play, too. "If he could have, he would have stayed home and been a Mr. Mom," said his wife. "His idea of the perfect weekend was staying home and flipping pancakes and changing diapers."

The New York Times on the Web: "'He was successful, but that's not what made him happiest,' said his sister, Nancy Salter. 'It was his family.' That was the part the young guns did not see, the part not learned in college. Tom Burke's mother always had a happy birthday. Tom Burke's family never wondered where Daddy was. Tom Burke's friends never lay sick, alone."

"Would YOU Eat This?" Wednesday

I have a feeling something got lost in translation here. A "Cantonese Glutinous Fried Rice" Speedi Meal! Now doesn't that sound yummy! It sounds about as good as it looks.

You know it's bad when the parsley is the most appetizing thing on the package!

Tacky Tuesday

What not to wear to the discount store:

As if the skin-tight pants and trashy sandals aren't bad enough...

These shoes don't even fit! Feet hanging over the edges of one's shoes is not, I repeat not sexy. It's just nasty! Posted by Picasa

Once you get this song in your head, it never leaves. It's kind of cute, though. Don't ask me why, but I added it as a ring tone on my cell.

Decorate Your Bathroom - The Dollar Store Way!

First, select your toilet seat cover:

Tired of sitting down to do your business, only to find yourself seated in a wet spot? This terry-cloth seat cover is not only cheap, and available in an assortment of attractive colors to match most bathrooms (if they happen to be pink and/or purple), it's highly absorbent, too!

If your bathroom isn't pink or purple, there's this hideous cushioned toilet seat in a shade that will hide most unsightly toilet issues.

And, to point the way to your restroom, you might want to invest in one of these "Toilet" signs. Why on Earth would anyone want a wall plaque featuring an old geezer taking a crap?

There's actually a whole series of these, each featuring an old person in a different "potty pose". Collect 'em all!

Over the 100-Degree Mark in New York City

As of 3:45pm, according to Weather.com, it reached 101 degrees at LaGuardia Airport, which is not too far from my neighborhood. I just took a short walk to the ATM and local Walgreen's, and to say it's hot out there is an understatement!

I'm just hoping that everyone in this city does their part to conserve electricity during this heatwave. Otherwise, we're going to be up Shit's Creek without a paddle! Like Mayor Bloomberg has suggested, setting your air conditioners for 78 degrees indoors is still a lot cooler than 101 degrees outside. The temperature in my apartment is currently 80 degrees, and it's not uncomfortable.

Seriously, folks, it's better to have your air conditioners on low, than to have no power, and no air conditioning or refrigeration whatsoever. For more info on the heatwave you can visit NY1 News. You can also download a copy of the "Ready New York: Beat the Heat Guide".
