This Week's Theme: Soft

This week's theme is "Soft":

(click the photo to see it larger)

This photo was taken in the Queens Zoo here in New York City. He looks so soft and cuddly, but I sure wouldn't want to mess with him! I think I'll stick with his smaller relatives, like my cat Theo. He only takes up half the bed!

Warning: The Following is Gross (but funny!)

My sister called yesterday afternoon, and after we were done talking, she put my 8 year old niece on the phone, who's been sick the past few days. I asked her how she was feeling, and somehow, the conversation got on the topic of VOMIT. (Not that I had anything to do with that, of course!)

She asked me if I remembered the time she vomited in her mom and dad's bed. She said she remembers saying that it looked like lemonade because it was all yellow and liquidy. She went on to tell me that she remembers one other time that she vomited, and it looked like meatloaf. She then explained to me that there are two kinds of vomit - the lemonade kind, and the meatloaf kind.

I don't need to tell you that at this point I'm HOWLING with laughter on the other end of the phone, so much so that I can't talk! When I finally caught my breath, I said "You're really funny!" And she said...

"I know. I'm a natural."

Which, of course, led to another round of me laughing my ass off, at which point I told her to wait while I wrote it down.

"What are you writing down? About the meatloaf vomit?"

"Yes, so I don't forget it." (Although I think it's highly unlikely that I'll ever get THAT image out of my head!)

This Week's Theme: Antique

This week's theme is "Antique", and from my collection of thrift shop horrors, I present to you...

Chairs from Hell

The picture really doesn't do the horror of these justice. What's not clearly visible is the color. Imagine if you will, olive green chairs with crushed goldenrod velvet cushions. They're from another dimension. A dimension of console TVs and bad upholstery. There's the signpost up ahead. You've just crossed into "The Retro Zone".

A Rare Religious Artifact

LOOK! It's Icantciu, the ancient god of eyeless people!
At some point in time, someone actually bought this for their home. It boggles the mind.

Today's Theme: Broken

This week's theme is "Broken", and in honor of Valentine's Day, I present to you...

"A Wedding in Sleepy Hollow: The Headless Horseman Takes a Wife"

Posted by Picasa

Could their relationship be destined for a series of broken promises and broken vows? Will they break up? Will their children become products of a broken home? Will their children have heads, or follow in their parents' broken footsteps, doomed to life on a dollar store shelf?

Today's Theme: Gross

This week's
theme is "Gross", a topic very near and dear to my warped and twisted heart. And what better way to celebrate grossness, than with a collection of gross and bizarre foods?

First, we have MAMA "Shrimp Creamy Tom Tum Flavor". I'm not sure what "creamy Tom Tum flavor" is. It sounds like something that would require a whopping dose of "Berry TUMS flavor" after ingesting it.

Next, we have "Small Fish and Seaweed Soup Mix". Doesn't that look appetizing? For anyone wondering whatever became of "Sigmund and the Sea Monsters", here's your answer!

No, it's not Gil Grissom's collection of mummified bovine eyeballs. It's "Rolled Fillets of Anchovies"! Don't ask me what that green stuff is in the middle, though. Probably some of Sigmund's relatives who weren't quite good enough to be included in the "Small Fish and Seaweed Soup Mix".

Donate Life!

I saw this ad, featuring the late Jerry Orbach on the subway on the way home from work tonight. I went home, visited The Eye-Bank website, and registered with the New York State Donate Life Registry.

I continued surfing and found the national Donate Life website. This site has state-by-state info on organ donation, how you can register to be an organ donor, and information about the organ donation process.

To think of others in a time of grief and sorrow is truly compassionate and selfless. Please consider the gift of life: organ and tissue donation.

Thousands of Americans are in need of vital organ and tissues. For many, the chance to live a full life won’t come unless many more of us consider organ and tissue donation. Discuss organ donation with your family and friends. Help others find a chance to live a full life. Talk to your family about organ donation. Talk to your family about donating LIFE.
