I continued surfing and found the national Donate Life website. This site has state-by-state info on organ donation, how you can register to be an organ donor, and information about the organ donation process.

Used to be enough that we had the "box" ticked on our drivers licence [over here]...then I found out many moons ago that you needed to put yerself on a registry.

We can still check the box on our drivers licenses to let it be known that we want to donate our organs.
I think the registry helps on a wider scope. Your wish to donate organs would also still be on file in the event you didn't have your license with you at the time of your death.
